Dynamics of solitonlike pulse propagation in birefringent optical fibers.
Integrated Stokes parameters are used to describe solitonlike pulse propagation and its state of polarization in birefringent optical fibers. A qualitative analysis on the Poincare sphere is developed to describe the evolution of the state of polarization of the soliton as a whole. Simple analytic equations describing the pulse evolution are derived in the approximation of the average profile. ...
متن کاملPhoton pair generation in birefringent optical fibers.
We study both experimentally and theoretically the generation of photon pairs by spontaneous four-wave mixing (SFWM) in standard birefringent optical fibers. The ability to produce a range of two-photon spectral states, from highly correlated (entangled) to completely factorable, by means of cross-polarized birefringent phase matching, is explored. A simple model is developed to predict the spe...
متن کاملSoliton stability in birefringent optical fibers : analytical approach
Propagation of short pulses in birefringent optical fibers is considered in the framework of two coupled nonlinear Schr8dinger equations. When the amplitudes of the pulses belonging to different polarizations are equal, we propose a simple analytical explanation of the amplitude threshold for the capture of two partial pulses into a coupled two-component pulse. Our approach is based on a solito...
متن کاملDark-soliton generation in optical fibers.
We study the generation of dark-pulse solitons in nonlinear-optical fibers in the normal dispersion regime. We demonstrate that dark solitons may be created as pairs by an arbitrary dark pulse without a threshold and obtain the parameters of the generated solitons. The cases of soliton creation by a boxlike dark pulse and a random Gaussian pulse are also described.
متن کاملNonlinear Pulse Reshaping in Optical Fibers
The propagation of ultrashort laser pulses in the optical fibers is connected with a plenty of interesting and practically important phenomena. Unique dispersive and nonlinear properties of the optical fibers lead to various scenarios of the pulse evolution which are resulted in particular changes of the pulse shape, spectrum and chirp. The modern age of the optical fibers starts from the 1960s...
